MedBlue National Plan Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
Medblue, LLC ("us," "we," or "Medblue") is committed to respecting the privacy rights of our customers, visitors, and users of Medblue.com, the MedBlue member portal, and related online services (collectively, the "Site"), as well as the MedBlue National Plan and services provided through the Site (collectively, the "Services").
This Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy") is designed to give you confidence as you visit and use the Site and Services and to demonstrate our commitment to fair information practices and the protection of privacy.
This Privacy Policy is only applicable to our Site and to information we receive through the MedBlue National Plan and from our marketing affiliates. It does not apply to any third-party websites that you may access through links on our Site, nor to websites of MedBlue's business partners, each of which may have their own privacy practices and policies.
Your use of the Site or the Services is governed by this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service for the MedBlue National Plan.
BY USING THE SITE, SERVICES, AND/OR BY REGISTERING WITH US FOR THE MEDBLUE NATIONAL PLAN, YOU ACCEPT THE PRACTICES AND POLICIES OUTLINED IN THIS PRIVACY POLICY, AND YOU HEREBY CONSENT THAT WE WILL TRACK, COLLECT, USE, AND SHARE YOUR INFORMATION IN THE WAYS DESCRIBED BELOW. IF YOU ARE REGISTERING AN ACCOUNT OR USING THE SERVICES ON BEHALF OF AN INDIVIDUAL OR ENTITY OTHER THAN YOURSELF, YOU REPRESENT THAT YOU ARE AUTHORIZED BY SUCH INDIVIDUAL OR ENTITY TO ACCEPT THIS PRIVACY POLICY ON THEIR BEHALF.
Note: The MedBlue National Plan is a discount membership program, not insurance, and is available only to adults 18 years of age or older residing in the United States and Puerto Rico.
2. Traffic Data Automatically Collected
We automatically track and collect certain information when you visit our Site or use our Services, such as:
- IP address
- Domain server
- Device type used to access the Site
- Types and configurations of web browsers used to access the Site
- Referring source (the website or ad that sent you to the Site)
- Web pages viewed and links clicked
- Length of time you visited the Site or used our Services
- Date and time of your visit
- Other information associated with the interaction of your browser and the Site
We refer to this collectively as "Traffic Data."
3. Personal Information Collected From You
To access certain areas of the Site or specific Services - such as enrolling in the MedBlue National Plan, accessing your member account, or allowing us to help you connect with participating providers - we may ask you to provide information that personally identifies you ("Personal Information").
Personal Information may include:
- Contact data - e.g., name, email address, mailing address, phone number, Medblue username and password.
- Demographic data - e.g., date of birth, gender, ZIP code, state of residence (to confirm eligibility in all 50 states and Puerto Rico), and other profile information.
- Health-related or service-related data - e.g.:
- information about your use of telehealth services,
- your use of dental services with participating dentists,
- your use of pharmacy discount services,
- information related to hospital or medical bills over $300 that you ask us to help negotiate, and
- other health-related or billing information you choose to share with us so we can provide Services.
If you communicate with us by email, phone, text, or mail, we may collect and store any information you provide in that communication as Personal Information.
4. Interactive and Installed Tools
We may provide interactive features on the Site ("Interactive Tools"), such as:
- searching for participating dentists,
- locating participating pharmacies,
- viewing telehealth network information,
- submitting a hospital/medical bill over $300 for negotiation assistance,
- managing your MedBlue National Plan membership and payments.
You may also voluntarily provide information via:
- free-form text boxes,
- surveys, questionnaires, and feedback forms.
If we offer tools that require you to download and install software ("Installed Tools"), such tools may collect and transmit information from your device solely as needed to provide those tools (e.g., confirming that you are logged in and eligible to receive alerts or updates about your membership).
5. Cookies
We may use "Cookies" (small text files that your browser stores) to:
- remember your login information,
- keep track of your preferences,
- understand how you use our Site, and
- improve your user experience.
Cookies may store information such as user ID, preferences, and lists of pages visited and actions taken on the Site. Cookies do not give us access to other files on your device.
You may block or delete Cookies using your browser settings. However, if you disable Cookies, some features of the Site or Services (such as logging into your MedBlue National Plan account) may not function properly.
Our business partners may also use Cookies to provide us with anonymous usage data and to show MedBlue ads on other sites after you visit our Site. These Cookies generally do not contain Personal Information. You can opt out of some advertising Cookies via the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
6. Web Beacons
We may use "Web Beacons" (tiny graphic files embedded in web pages or emails) to collect anonymous information about how you use the Services and how you interact with our emails (e.g., whether an email about your MedBlue National Plan benefits was opened). This helps us understand usage and improve our communications.
7. Website Analytics
We may use third-party analytics services to help us understand how users interact with our Site and Services (for example, to analyze which pages are most visited or where users have difficulty). These tools may log mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, and text typed into the Site.
These analytics services do not collect Personal Information beyond what you voluntarily provide on the Site, and they do not track your activity on non-MedBlue websites.
8. Storage
We may store Traffic Data, account data, and other records for as long as needed to:
- operate and improve the MedBlue National Plan,
- comply with legal obligations,
- enforce our agreements, or
- support legitimate business needs.
We store Personal Information until you request modification or deletion, subject to legal, regulatory, or operational requirements (see Section 20).
9. Information Provided on Behalf of Children
The MedBlue National Plan is only available to adults aged 18 and over.
We do not enroll minors (under 18) in the National Plan and do not knowingly collect Personal Information from individuals under age 13 in accordance with COPPA. Parents and legal guardians should not attempt to enroll minors in the MedBlue National Plan or submit their information for membership purposes.
If a parent or guardian contacts us about a minor in the context of a hospital bill, complaint, or inquiry, any information provided will be handled as Personal Information under this Policy, but such minors are not eligible MedBlue National Plan members.
10. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
If we learn that we have received information from a child under 13, we will:
- use that information only to respond to the child (or parent/guardian) to state that they cannot use the Services, and
- promptly delete that information from our systems, consistent with applicable law.
11. Medblue's Use of Your Information
We may use your Personal Information in connection with the MedBlue National Plan to:
- Enroll and manage your membership, including verifying eligibility (18+ and residence in the U.S. or Puerto Rico).
- Provide plan benefits, such as:
- access to $0 Urgent Virtual Care 24/7 and $0 Virtual Primary Care (through independent third-party telehealth providers),
- access to dental discounts through participating in-network dentists,
- access to pharmacy discounts through participating pharmacy networks,
- assistance with negotiation of hospital or medical bills over $300.
- Communicate with you, including:
- sending membership confirmations, billing notices, and updates,
- reminding you of renewals, benefits, and plan features,
- responding to your questions and support requests.
- Recommend resources, such as certain participating providers, networks, or plan benefits that may be relevant to you.
- Customize your experience, using demographic data, Traffic Data, and service usage patterns to display content, offers, and educational material that may be more relevant to you.
- Improve and develop the Services, including analyzing usage patterns, trends, and feedback to enhance the MedBlue National Plan.
- Conduct statistical research, using de-identified or anonymized Personal Information (e.g., aggregated data on how members use telehealth, dental, pharmacy, or negotiation assistance).
Any research or analytics that uses health-related data will use such information in a de-identified or anonymized form whenever possible, so that it cannot reasonably be tied back to you.
12. Sharing of Information
We may share certain categories of information as described in this Privacy Policy:
- Providers and Networks You Use
We may share relevant Personal Information (such as contact data, eligibility status, or membership verification) with:- participating telehealth providers,
- participating dentists, and
- participating pharmacy networks,
where needed to deliver your MedBlue National Plan benefits.
- Bill Negotiation Vendors
If you request assistance with a hospital or medical bill over $300, we may share necessary information from that bill (such as dates of service, provider name, billed amounts) with our bill negotiation partners, solely to attempt to negotiate a lower cash settlement on your behalf. - Service Providers / Business Partners
We may share Personal Information and Traffic Data with service providers that perform functions on our behalf, such as:- hosting,
- data storage and security,
- payment processing,
- customer support,
- email or SMS delivery,
- analytics, and
- other operational services.
These partners are contractually obligated to protect your information and may only use it to perform services for MedBlue.
- Marketing & Analytics (De-identified Data)
We may share de-identified, aggregate, or anonymized information with marketing partners and analytics providers to help us understand the usage and performance of the MedBlue National Plan and our marketing campaigns. This data does not identify you personally. - Merger or Business Transfer
We may transfer information about you in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of MedBlue's business or assets. If such a transfer occurs, we will make reasonable efforts to ensure that the new entity honors this Privacy Policy or provides notice of a materially different policy. - Legal Requirements & Protection of Rights
We may disclose your Personal Information if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to:- comply with a court order, subpoena, law, or legal process;
- protect the rights, property, or safety of MedBlue, our users, or others;
- enforce our Terms of Service or this Privacy Policy; or
- respond to claims that any content violates the rights of third parties.
MedBlue does not sell, rent, or trade your Personal Information to third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
13. User Choice
You may choose not to provide certain Personal Information. In that case, you may still be able to browse parts of the Site, but you may not be able to:
- enroll in the MedBlue National Plan,
- log into a member account,
- access your full membership benefits, or
- receive certain communications and services.
14. Confidentiality and Security
Except as described above, we keep your Personal Information private and will not share it with third parties unless:
- required by law or legal process,
- necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others,
- required to enforce our Terms of Service or this Privacy Policy, or
- related to claims about content or misuse of the Site.
We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect your Personal Information, both during transmission (e.g., using SSL encryption for sensitive data) and after we receive it. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, hacking, data loss, or other breaches will never occur.
Your Personal Information is processed at MedBlue's operating offices and other locations within the United States where MedBlue or its service providers maintain systems or storage.
15. Providers (Doctors, Dentists, Telehealth Clinicians, Pharmacies)
Doctors, dentists, telehealth clinicians, pharmacies, and other health-related entities that interact with MedBlue must comply with their own legal and professional obligations, including patient confidentiality and, where applicable, HIPAA.
MedBlue itself is not a covered entity or health care provider delivering care. MedBlue does not assume HIPAA obligations for provider-patient communications that occur outside our systems. We handle Personal Information according to this Privacy Policy and applicable law, but we do not accept additional confidentiality obligations unless expressly agreed in writing.
16. Public Information
Any information you choose to submit in:
- reviews,
- public forums,
- community discussions, or
- social media features
may be visible to others and is not considered private. You should exercise caution before posting Personal Information in public spaces, as we cannot control how third parties may use or share that information.
17. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect Personal Information. As noted, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
If we become aware of a security incident involving your Personal Information that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you as required by applicable law and provide information on the nature and extent of the incident, to the extent we know it.
18. Lost or Stolen Information
If your login credentials, contact data, or membership details are lost, stolen, or used without your permission, you must promptly notify us so we can update our records, secure your account, and assist you in protecting your information.

19. Updates and Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may modify this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will:
- post the updated version on our Site, and
- update the "Last Updated" date at the top.
Your continued use of the Site or Services after a revised Privacy Policy is posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
20. Controlling Your Personal Information
As a registered MedBlue National Plan member, you can:
- log into your account to update certain profile and contact information,
- change your password,
- adjust your communication preferences where applicable, and
- contact us at [email protected] to request access to the Personal Information we hold about you.
You may request deletion of your account and Personal Information. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to delete or de-identify your Personal Information, subject to:
- legal and regulatory requirements,
- our need to maintain records for billing, dispute resolution, and compliance,
- data that has already been shared with third parties (which may be in their control).

21. Links to Other Websites
The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for:
- the privacy practices of those websites,
- any data they collect, or
- the accuracy of information they present.
We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any non-MedBlue site you visit.
22. European Privacy Disclosures
If you live in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, additional rights may apply under the GDPR. In general:
- Medblue, LLC is the data controller for MedBlue Services.
- Health and special category data are processed only with your consent and as needed to provide Services.
- You may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data, and to object to processing for certain purposes.
- You may contact us at [email protected] for assistance or to exercise your rights, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
(These GDPR provisions apply only to the extent MedBlue's Services are subject to European data protection laws.)
23. Not Insurance
THE MEDBLUE NATIONAL PLAN IS NOT INSURANCE AND IS NOT BEING SOLD TO REPLACE INSURANCE.
- The Plan provides discounts at certain healthcare providers (such as participating dentists and pharmacy networks) for eligible services.
- The Plan also includes assistance in negotiating hospital or medical bills over $300, but MedBlue does not guarantee any reduction in such bills.
- The Plan does not make payments directly to providers for medical or dental services.
- Members are obligated to pay for all services but may receive a discount or negotiated reduction from providers who have contracted with MedBlue or MedBlue's partner networks.
- The MedBlue National Plan is available in all 50 states and Puerto Rico and includes a standard three-day waiting period before benefits may be used.
- The Plan contains a 30-day cancellation period. Members may receive a full refund of membership fees (excluding any enrollment or processing fees) if membership is cancelled within 30 days of the effective date, subject to the Plan's Terms of Service.
